VOGNMANDSRUTEN between Korsør and Nyborg started to operate on 18 March 1984. In the early days this operation was dominated by old ro-ro ships and a complicated economical structure. The old ships were gradually replaced with the new Superflexferries as from 1987. The Superflex-ferries featured a completely new and untraditional ferry design, that as time passed by proved to be a success. In 1990 the operation on Storebælt was taken over by Difko, and it was developed into a reliable and popular ferry service. The old so-called VR-group tried to operate on Øresund instead, but without any major success.

The book covers the following themes:

- The start-up and early days of Vognmandsruten

- The introduction of the Superflex ferries

- Vognmandsruten and Difko

- Difko's operation between Bagenkop and Kiel

- The unrealised plans of the VR-group

- Scarlett Line on Øresund

- The end of the VR-group

- Skagen Line

- The economical structure of the VR-group

Furthermore all ships of Vognmandsruten as well as all Superflex ferries are described in detail.

The book is illustrated with general arrangements and a large number of photos.
